Apostasy-renunciation of religious faith, 'going east'. Wow, that is a new word for me. and rather convicting. I 'go east' much like she said about the Israelites 'distanced themselves from God on the basis of what looked good' pg 21. Sometimes we don't even realize what we are doing until it is too late. Thank the Lord for His grace.
Going East is kinda like the thing about "going to Egypt," isn't it?
I loved the quote, "A man can't find his soul on the sidewalk," on page 23. I would add... or in front of a Mac (although he's more likely to there than in front of a PC)... in front of a TV... on a stinking stationary bike (no, I'm not bitter about having to exercise)...
Perhaps we should all challenge ourselves to find quiet moments regularly in sublime places.
I also really am contemplating the whole separateness thing on pp25-26. At our church, we're encouraging folks to "get involved" in others' lives. But this is a great reminder...

Proof again that we need to be very careful what we let our eyes look on. We can be deceived by what looks good.
